Edric Choo Poo Liang
Formed by Malaysian Ar. Edric Choo Poo Liang, LAM A/C 307, O2DA is based on the model of creative industries. O2DA’s works are not restricted to a specific style but rather responds to the nature of the projects, contexts, local culture, social behavior and formal architecture language. We believe climate change is a very important issue. Each project is the result of a meticulous, in-depth design process rather than a preconception of an end result.
Born in 1976, Edric obtained his B. Arch from University of Malaya and B.Sc. Housing Building & Planning from University Science of Malaysia. He has traveled around the world including, China, Japan, India, America, France, Finland, England, and Germany. He started his architecture career under a few renowned architecture firms including TR Hamzah & Yeang, ZLG Design, RT+Q, W Architects, SCDA, and WOHA.
O2DA explores integrated designs for the built environment, moving between master planning, architecture, interior, landscape, and furniture design.

Project:"Steps Lying Vertical" Linocuts
Presented as part of the SWS Vienna GREEN Plenary programme, December 2020
Zoom session: 0:00:30 h
In the exhibition "Time-Line" at the Kunstschule.Wien she shows the world in pink packaging: "Steps Lying Vertical" linocuts by Vani Eden, contains 6 linocut prints, original prints in black / white, 60 x 80 cm, framed 82.5 x 107 cm, behind museum glass, hung in 2 rows on pink bubble wrap, framed by 6 columns, dipped in Pink light.
This work is dedicated to gender-unequal access to the art world and the global impotence before the coronavirus / Covid19. "Steps Lying Vertical" is a sensitive, multi-layered work that shows that the inconspicuously small, but in reality overwhelming virus has long been lying in wait for the supposedly large, feeling superior human race.
It doesn't matter where and in which society you live and, whether you are a woman or a man.
The work shows an artist floating in the balancing act between creativity, sensitivity, the urge to research and the demands of the art market. On the other hand, their artistic work is only really perceived when their lives run outside the usual role clichés and have eccentric episodes.
If an artist nevertheless tries to balance self-sacrificing, familial, maternal affection and good art, this does not correspond to the artistic image. The constant intellectual urge to be creative grants a different view of life and opens the eyes to the invisible. It is precisely this recurring approach to the line between reality and utopia that is an outstanding moment for me and defines my art.
She likes going into everyday topics and merging the images. It is not surprising that the elaboration of the motifs of "Steps Lying Vertical" was redesigned when the dramatic events of the outbreak of Covid19 in China and Italy came to a head. It was becoming increasingly clear that it was about to escalate into a global pandemic.
Her work is still open during the sketching process and this creates new dialogues and diverse possibilities. Even the white drawing on the brown linoleum base is not final, because the way the linoleum knife is used determines the expression and mood of the work. For me, carving is a creative, meditative fine work done with the highest demands on my imagination.
In addition, she has incorporated the meanwhile high global mobility of a large part of mankind into my work “Liegenstufen Venkrecht”. Technical development accelerates the process of globalization through the compression of space and time. The tendency towards a globalized free market causes uniformity while at the same time losing traditional individuality and uniqueness. I question career and performance hunger, media presence, the rise and fall of society and the individual.
It is not surprising how quickly a small, invisible virus spread through the global mega-events of a worldwide jet “chic society”. The earth seems to be a village. In "Steps Lying Vertical", humans become inconspicuous atoms and viruses become overpowering monsters at the same time.
she show the crowded escalators at international airports. Show how buildings bend in front of the coronary mass ejection of the overstretched society, which presents itself more and more extravagant and megalomaniac. But if you look closely, you will see the tragic loss of cultural diversity.
"Steps Lying Vertical" is a sensitive, multi-layered work that shows that the inconspicuously small, but in reality overwhelming virus has long been lying in wait for the supposedly large, feeling superior human race.
