ABSTRACT
We can say it is a two way problem: GIS technology can solve complex and difficult tasks regarding the environment and the environment matters, where we have to take into account various and multiple data and data sources can rely on the GIS technology.
In Romania, we have a growth tendency in solving the environmental related issues. We start to use more renewable energy resources every year, considering as a visible proof the extended territory occupied by wind farms or solar panels. In order to reach its maximum potential, these resources must be correctly located.
In this article we try to develop a GIS model that will help determine the optimal placement for any element that helps us produce green energy (wind turbine, solar panel, in depth drill), taking into account the Romanian legislation, land related condition (soil, flora, fauna) or any other elements.
