ABSTRACT
Encouraged by ESDP (European Spatial Development Perspective) the polycentricity is developing now like a key concept in the territorial planning politics. The polycentricity concept, means the creation of some local synergies, up to the cooperation betwen regions and cities. Regarding the idea of the study, this is represented by current trends of development of the urban romanian system in the context of European integration, Romania approaching different strategies of competitiveness and territorial cohesion underlying polycentricity of the urban structures, like the Strategical Concept of Territorial Developming of Romania (CSDTR) 2007-2030, National Developming Plan 2007-2013 or National Strategic Reference Framework (2007-2013). The study itself aims to analize the romanian urban system from the perspective of historical evolution in last century and the consolidation of a theoretical base on the patterns of spatial interaction in order to estrablish some evolution trends of romanian cities. In the end, by analyzing and mapping representations carried out, this study will represent a fulcrum for the next studies of the polycentrism in Romania.
